NLR Advisory boards
To ensure our activities are aligned with the latest scientific developments and the needs of industry, government, and academia, NLR has a structure that includes an advisory board and advisory committees.
Our advisory board is appointed by the NLR-management, in consultation with the Supervisory Board. Members are appointed for a four-year term and can be reappointed once. The advisory board advises the management on strategic plans, research plans, and the scientific quality of our work.
NLR’s three advisory committees serve as a sounding board and advisory body for our three divisions. They review research plans and reports, and provide advice on strategy and scientific trends. Each committee is appointed by the management for a four-year term, with one possible reappointment. The chairs of the advisory committees also sit on the advisory board by virtue of their position.
Governance and composition of the Supervisory board and advisory committees
From 22 October 2024

The communication protocol is as follows: the Advisory committees engage directly with the divisions, while formal recommendations are routed through the Advisory board. The Management subsequently conveys these formal recommendations to the Supervisory board. The composition of our advisory committees is designed to be representative, with a balanced mix of members from industry, government, and academia.
