SPADES is an autonomous, reusable parachute system for loads up to 1000 kg which can land on a pre-designated location with an accuracy of 50 meters. The system includes a GPS receiver and unique auto-pilot software.
SPADES is developed through collaboration between the Ministry of Defence, Dutch Space and NLR. On July 5 SPADES is officially transferred to SSBV Aerospace & Technology Group.
With the acquisition of the system by SSBV, the further development and production is in the hands of SSBV that will continue the relationship with NLR. SPADES will continue under the name Aerial Rider Cargo System, or ACRIDS.
