NLR once again present at Paris Air Show
Held every two years, the Paris Air Show is a major event for the global aerospace sector. This is where the latest aerospace innovations are presented to all the leading industry players. Visitors to NLR’s stand will be introduced to the various practical, reliable and innovative products and services that we have developed. Our key message is that NLR’s expertise makes a practical contribution to the competitiveness and capacity for innovation of Dutch SMEs, industry and the public sector.
The range of state-of-the-art innovations on display at the Paris Air Show will once again be overwhelming. But how can all these exciting innovations be translated into competitive and market-oriented products and services? And how can the required disciplines be incorporated into the development process? Thanks to its integrated expertise and multidisciplinary approach, NLR is optimally positioned to assist the public and private sector in this regard.
NLR’s theme at the Paris Air Show 2015 will be ‘Supporting the entire life cycle of aircraft’, emphasizing our ability to support the entire development process of aircraft components and new technology, from the initial idea through to implementation. In other words, NLR offers solutions for the entire chain: from analysis, design, development and testing, through to verification, qualification, certification and operations. Watch here the accompanying video clip we are going to show in Paris.
At the NLR stand we will focus in particular on a number of special capabilities and facilities, such as the recently opened Automated Composite Manufacturing Pilot Plant at the NLR site in the province of Flevoland. This ‘field laboratory’ develops automated processes for the manufacture of composite components by means of Resin Transfer Moulding (RTM). An additional objective is the optimization of the production process, in order to increase the quality and affordability of the products. Ultra-modern equipment has been purchased for this purpose, for which Fokker and NLR jointly devised the specifications. One example is the Eurocarbon braiding machine for composites, which is one of the largest in Europe.
Experiencing aircraft-noise in a simulator? At the Paris Air Show visitors are also invited to the Clean Sky pavilion, where NLR will demonstrate its Virtual Community Noise Simulator-VCNS. The VCNS is a unique aircraft-noise simulator that realistically reflects how people on the ground would hear noise from an aircraft overhead. In this way, the noise simulator facilitates clear communication about how people experience aircraft noise. With the VCNSNLRÂ possesses an instrument that will enable research noise pollution from aircraft, for example further to new aircraft technologies such as engines or aircraft configuration.
The Paris Air Show will be held from June 15 till June 21 to in Paris. The NLR stand is stand number G80 in Hall 2b.
