H.E. Mr Saeed Al Mansoori, Minister of Economy and chairman of the General Civil Aviation Authority, headed a delegation of the UAE-United Arab Emirates to the Netherlands Aerospace Centre headquarters in Amsterdam on Tuesday February 27th . The visit took place in the cadre of the smart cities innovation Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Netherlands and the United Arab Emirates one day earlier.
Mr. Arie Kraaijeveld, chairman of the non-executive board of NLR received his Excellency and the accompanying delegation with a warm welcome. The delegation learned more about innovation in Aerospace in the Netherlands. They have taken a glance at new innovative technology in the area of composites structural components, drones safety & integration in airspace, and augmented reality with HoloLens. They also have paid visit to NLR state of the art Tower & Radar Simulator (NARSIM).
At the end of the session, two major cooperation subjects were identified: “Drones Safe Operations & integration in airspace” and “Smart Airports” of the future. This cooperation will definitely help boost both countries and especially the UAE ambition to handle 250 million passengers by 2020.
